Who We Are

The primary mission of the Texas State Securities Board, as set forth in the Texas Securities Act, is to protect Texas investors. Consistent with that mission, the Texas State Securities Board works to ensure a free and competitive securities market in Texas, increase investor confidence, and thereby encourage the formation of capital and the creation of new jobs in Texas.

What We Do

The Enforcement Division of the Texas State Securities Board is charged with the prevention, detection and prosecution of violations of the Texas Securities Act.

White-collar crime, such as financial fraud, is sometimes difficult to recognize. We find that this type of crime causes a tremendous amount of monetary damage to the households of Texas citizens. No one is exempt from this type of fraud - people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds are preyed upon every year.

Investigate Before You Invest!

Investors who are uninformed face the greatest risk of falling victim to an investment scam or con artist. A well informed investor is usually a well protected investor. Because the state and federal securities regulators cannot prevent all of the securities frauds and abuses that may occur in Texas, the Texas State Securities Board's Investor Education Program is designed to help inform and educate Texans to protect themselves. Our Investor Education Program has something for Texans of all ages. By clicking on the links above you will be able to find a number of resources available on investing basics including brochures and publications. You can request a speaker for your local civic organization, senior organizations and for high school classroom. These services are provided free of charge.

If you have a question about a particular security or feel you may have been the victim of a scam or an unscrupulous broker or financial adviser, please call our toll free number at 1-888-663-0009 or (512) 305-8300.

The Texas State Securities Board's "Investigate Before You Invest!" project is funded in part by a grant from the Investor Protection Trust (IPT). The IPT is a nonprofit organization devoted to investor education. Since 1993, the IPT has worked with the States to provide the independent, objective investor education needed by all Americans to make informed investment decisions. www.investorprotection.org.
